Personal Year: How to Calculate It and What Each Year Means

Besides the year the whole world is living, you have a Personal Year: the rhythm of your own journey. It follows a nine-year cycle, and each year brings its own theme: starting, waiting, creating, building, changing, caring, going deeper, harvesting, or closing. Knowing which one you're in helps you understand what this year is asking of you and what's best to leave for later.

What is a Personal Year in numerology?
If your Life Path is the road you're here to travel, your Personal Year is the season you're driving through: some years ask you to speed up, others to slow down, and others to stop and look at the map. It doesn't change who you are; it changes the conditions around you.
The cycle has nine stages, like the seasons of a garden: you plant in Year 1, nurture in 2, see the first sprouts in 3, build in 4, change course in 5, tend to what you love in 6, reflect in 7, harvest in 8, and clear the ground in 9 so you can plant again.
How to calculate your Personal Year
- Reduce your birth month to a single digit (November, 11 → 2; December, 12 → 3).
- Reduce your birth day to a single digit (24 → 6).
- Reduce the year you want to look at (2026 → 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10 → 1).
- Add the three results and reduce the total. If you get 11 or 22, keep it: it's a master year. If you get 33, it's read as a 6.
Example: someone born on August 24, in 2026.
- Month 8 → 8
- Day 24 → 2 + 4 = 6
- Year 2026 → 10 → 1
- 8 + 6 + 1 = 15 → 1 + 5 = 6
In 2026 that person is living a Personal Year 6.
At Alkiimia the Personal Year is counted by calendar year, from January 1 to December 31. Some schools count it from your birthday; that's why other calculators sometimes give a different result.

Personal Year and Universal Year
The Universal Year is the year the whole world is living: you get it by adding the digits of the calendar year (2026 → 10 → 1). Your Personal Year adds your own month and day to it, so it's the universal energy filtered through you. That's why in the same year one person feels everything starting while another feels everything closing.
The nine Personal Years and the master years
- Personal Year 1: a year of beginnings, to think about what you want to create.
- Personal Year 2: a year to wait, cooperate, and let things ripen.
- Personal Year 3: a year of first results and first achievements.
- Personal Year 4: a year when your projects and ideas take shape.
- Personal Year 5: a year of change, movement, and freedom.
- Personal Year 6: a year of harmony, home, and responsibilities.
- Personal Year 7: a year to go deeper and tie up loose ends.
- Personal Year 8: a year to make things happen and reap what you've sown.
- Personal Year 9: a year that closes a cycle.
- Personal Year 11: a year of heightened intuition and spiritual experiences.
- Personal Year 22: a year to carry out big projects and lead.
Years 11 and 22 are master years: intensified versions of the 2 and the 4. A total of 33 is read as a 6.
How to use your Personal Year
- To time your decisions. Starting something big tends to flow better in a Year 1 than in a Year 9, when the cycle is closing.
- To understand what you're feeling. If everything feels slow in a Year 2 or introspective in a Year 7, it's part of the cycle, not a failure.
- To read it with your other numbers. The same year feels different depending on your Life Path, your Pinnacle, and your Age Digit.
- To go month by month. Inside each year there are Personal Months and Personal Days, which you can see in the Your Cycles tab of the app.
